You may choose not to provide optional information. Some information is needed to create an account, respond to a request, publish a listing, or deliver a purchased service.

2. Information specific to our directories

Businesses

Business profiles may include public-facing names, addresses, phone numbers, websites, hours, service information, and owner-submitted content. Sole proprietors and home-based businesses should consider whether published details also identify a private residence or personal contact method.

Properties & Rentals

Property listings may include addresses, photos, prices, availability, advertiser contact details, and the advertiser’s role. Do not publish tenant records, application documents, or information about occupants without authorization.

Jobs

Job listings may include employer or recruiter details, job descriptions, locations, compensation information, and application instructions.

If an enabled application feature accepts a résumé, cover letter, or application message, we process the information you submit to provide that feature and deliver it to the designated employer or recruiter. Do not include unnecessary sensitive information.

If a listing directs you to an external application website or email address, the recipient collects the application directly under its own practices.

Events

Event listings may include organizer details, venue information, dates, registration links, and promotional materials. External registration and ticketing providers have their own privacy policies.

Classifieds

Classified ads may include seller details, item photos, prices, pickup areas, and vehicle or part information. Check photos for visible documents, license plates, faces, or other details you do not intend to disclose.

3. Public sources and other contributors

We may obtain business information from publicly available websites, directories, public records, and other legitimate sources. Authorized representatives or other contributors may also provide listing information.

A basic business listing may appear before its owner claims it. Publicly available business details can sometimes also constitute personal information. Contact us if information is inaccurate, inappropriate, or raises a privacy concern.

4. Technical information and cookies

Website infrastructure and enabled tools may collect technical information such as IP address, browser and device type, operating system, requested pages, referring pages, timestamps, and error or security logs.

6. Public content and search engines

Published listing information, reviews, display names, photos, and other public contributions may be viewed, copied, linked to, or indexed by others.

Do not place private information in public fields. Publishing contact information may result in inquiries from visitors or unrelated third parties.

Removing information from Hello Passaic does not automatically remove copies held by search engines, archives, social platforms, or other websites. We cannot control independent third-party copies.

7. Messages, inquiries, and applications

If you use a feature to contact a business, property advertiser, employer, seller, or event organizer, the information you submit may be shared with that designated recipient so they can respond.

This may include your name, contact details, message, and relevant attachments. Administrative access and service providers may also be involved in delivering, securing, and supporting the feature.

Recipients are responsible for their subsequent handling of information under applicable law. Review their privacy practices before sending sensitive information.

A general inquiry to Hello Passaic does not automatically subscribe you to a newsletter. If you ask us to connect you with a provider, we may share the information needed to carry out that request.

8. Service providers and other disclosures

We may disclose relevant information to providers that help us operate the platform and deliver services. Depending on the features used, these may include hosting, technical support, email delivery, form processing, security, analytics, payment, and customer support providers.

We may also disclose information:

Paid listing placement does not by itself authorize an advertiser to receive our private account or subscriber information.

Affiliate links may allow a provider or network to attribute a referral using link identifiers, cookies, or similar technology. Review our Affiliate Disclosure and the provider’s privacy information.

If advertising technology is used in a way that constitutes a sale, sharing, or targeted advertising under applicable law, the relevant disclosures and required consent or opt-out mechanisms must accompany that processing. General acceptance of our Terms is not a substitute for legally required privacy consent.

11. Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here, including operating accounts and listings, delivering services, resolving disputes, preventing abuse, and meeting legal, tax, and accounting requirements.

Retention depends on the information type, its purpose, account or listing status, legal requirements, and security needs. An expired or removed listing may leave limited administrative records or backups.

Information held in backups may remain until the relevant backup is rotated or deleted, subject to applicable requirements. Information retained for a legal reason remains subject to appropriate restrictions.

12. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate to the information we handle. No website, transmission method, or storage system is completely secure.

Use a strong password, protect your account, and notify us promptly of suspected unauthorized access. Do not send sensitive personal or financial documents through ordinary listing or inquiry fields.

13. Your choices and privacy requests

You can contact us to request a correction, ask about your information, close an account, or request deletion. Available account tools may also allow you to update certain details directly.

Depending on your location, the applicable law, and whether it applies to our processing, you may have rights to:

If you wish to appeal a denied request, contact us using the same methods and identify the decision you want reviewed. You may also contact the relevant regulator where applicable.

Closing an account may not automatically remove independently sourced public business information. Tell us which listing details concern you so we can assess the request.

14. Browser signals and privacy controls

Where applicable law requires recognition of a universal opt-out signal, such as a qualifying Global Privacy Control signal, we will honor it for the processing it covers. This does not necessarily identify you across all devices or browsers.

Browser “Do Not Track” settings are different from legally recognized universal opt-out mechanisms. You may contact us about available controls or use privacy preferences presented on the website.

15. Children’s information

Hello Passaic is a general-audience platform and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Our Terms require users to be at least 18 to create an account, submit listings, or purchase services.

If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

16. External websites and processing locations

Links to businesses, employers, property advertisers, sellers, event organizers, and other providers may take you to independent websites. This policy does not govern their practices.

Information may be processed in the United States or other locations where our providers operate. Privacy laws may differ between locations. Where legally required, appropriate safeguards apply to international transfers.

We may update this policy as our platform, services, or practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision.

We will provide additional notice of material changes and obtain consent where required. Posting an updated policy does not replace consent that applicable law requires.
